18 C, spring is finally here!

Summer is on it's way, and a few sunny days have come. It's nice when everyone is in the park. I saw a couple of people doing some amazing zip wire walking and they weren't falling at all . I would probably fall straight away...    PS: It doesn't look very sunny in the picture maybe because they were under a tree or just the photo quality.

If only there was a hose at the park to wash dogs after their run. Look at a picture I took of my dog after a walk in Clapham Common.

Clapham in the 17th-19th century
In the late 17th century, large country houses were built here, and during the 18th and early 19th century the wealthiest people of London built large houses around Clapham Common and in the Old Town.
Samuel Pepys spent the last two years of his life in the north side of Clapham.
Clapham Common was also home to Elizabeth Cook, the widow of Captain James Cook the explorer.

Black fox spotted in West London. Super rare ! Only 10 in Britain. Was aggressive towards red fox because it's mating season. In the old days. it was considered bad luck to see a black fox as people believed they were the reincarnation of the devil.
Fight! Teeth bared, the black fox bears down on his red-furred rival on a shed roof in Hounslow Confrontation: The hot-blooded black fox, with its distinctive bushy white-topped tail, trots off to investigate

Battersea Park

NEW Go Ape!

This high wire tree top adventure looks like so much fun, I've walked by it a few times and there were jumps, zip lines...ect  Go Ape in Battersea Park is the first for any city in the UK

The highest obstacle crossings is double the height of most Go Ape courses !
Half term is coming up! hint hint Mum.

Did you know there's a movie being filmed here in Clapham common. Don't know what movie it is yet but hope I'll soon find out.

Monday, 25 January 2016

Did you know that Michel Roux Jr. (chef & ex-judge on Masterchef) lives in Abbeville village. I've spotted him at Kerbeisher & Malt, Venn Street Market and around the village after his run.                                                         one of his many dishes

It feels like spring look at these pictures I took this morning.

no more muddy puddles
The first daffodils
At last, my dog won't get all muddy every day when he goes on walks.

Why is Duck & Hedges always closed for business, seems to always be under construction. Do you think it's going to shut down? I hope it turns into a juice bar or a book store.

Sunday, 17 January 2016

The basketball hoops in Clapham Common are going to be fixed soon (the hoops are going to have new nets.)

I think that when there's a net on the hoop for one it looks cooler and also it makes the ball go straight down and not far away. Why do you think it's better with a net ?

Ice on pond of Clapham Common

This morning (16th January) the pond in Clapham Common froze and ice covered the whole pond, well... nearly. Some of the birds managed to break through even though when I threw a small stone on the ice it didn't break -  the stone just kept sliding along. If the pond is frozen it means it was 0 degrees or less and when its 0 degrees or less it means that it could snow.

The water pipes at the Temperance Fountain and paddling pool are being repaired. If it works then it'll be possible for the fountain to be spraying water again.

Since I moved here (2013, 3 years ago) there was "Le Petit boulanger"  at the end of abbeville road

then they changed their name to: The Abbeville Bakery

Then it was chut down and became a new shop called Betty blythe

Then it shut down and... It's nothing now! What do you think it'll be?

Church of the holy spirit on Narbonne avenue

Abbeville village is a very pet friendly area, because of the VET (David cuffe & associate)
but did you know that at the church of the holy spirit they will have a dog ceromony if your dog passes away.

Gail's Bakery Logo
To me GAIL's is bread, Bread BREAD with so many choices. Just take a look at that!
It lookes so good! It's making me want to eat... there are still sooooo many different types of bread I haven't even tried yet. I usually get baguette there and make my own ham and lettuce sandwich.

I found this old photo of a dairy on Abbeville road taken in 1907. Looked like it was quite a job getting milk - not from a plastic bottle from the local shop! To me it looks like it is now the Aspire building even though number 73 today is Jacksons further down. What do you think?

Sunday, 10 January 2016

I just discovered that the deep level bomb shelter in Clapham south (used in the Second World War) is going to be turned into a cafe.

Abbeville village the coolest place in london?
I moved to Abbeville 3 years ago. Since then it looks much better in every way. It has nearly everything that you need on one road (nearly) I think it should have a book store, fish monger and a pharmacy. How about you? My favorite shop on Abbeville road is the Ginger pig because I get to have burgers and sausages more often and also kerbisher and malt because I get to have chips with them.
